Pike Road is mostly new construction — which means most repaints here are first repaints. Done right, the first one sets up the next twenty years.

Pike Road is unusual among our service areas. The town only incorporated in 1997, and the real growth came after the school system was established — which means the housing stock is overwhelmingly modern. Large lots, newer builds, and a lot of homes that have never been repainted since the builder handed them over.
That creates a specific opportunity and a specific risk. A first repaint on a well-built modern home is the easiest good result in this business: the substrate is sound, there's rarely hidden rot, and a proper job will hold for the better part of two decades. But it's also the job most often rushed, because everything looks fine. The failure doesn't show up until year three, when the caulk lines open and the south elevation starts to chalk.
We treat a first repaint as the one that sets the baseline. Wash the surface properly. Replace the builder's caulk rather than painting over it — builder-grade caulk is the single most common early failure point on a house this age. Spot-prime anything bare. Then two full coats, not one heavy one.
A lot of Pike Road homes are clad in fiber cement — Hardie board and similar products. It's excellent material and it lasts, but it has rules of its own:
Several Pike Road neighborhoods — The Waters most visibly — were planned with a deliberate architectural character, and that often comes with agreed color palettes and an approval process before you repaint an exterior.
This trips people up. Homeowners pick a color, book a painter, and find out afterwards that it needs sign-off. It's worth checking your covenants or HOA guidelines before you commit to a scheme, and it's worth choosing from an approved palette early rather than falling in love with something you can't use.
We're happy to work from an approved list, and to quote two or three schemes so you can take real options to the committee rather than a single request that might come back rejected.
A frequent question from Pike Road owners: the house is barely ten years old, so why are there cracks above the doorways?
Because central Alabama soils expand and contract with moisture, and every house on them moves a little. On a newer build that movement shows up as hairline cracks above openings, nail pops along stud lines, and occasionally a ceiling seam. It's cosmetic in the overwhelming majority of cases — but it has to be repaired rather than painted over, or it reappears through the new finish within a season.
